Singapore's Defense Ministry Hit With First Major Cyber Attack

 Singapore's government has been the latest victim of a cyber crime. There has been a hack in the internet access (I-net) of the agency which has led to the access of personal data.  Investigations revealed that basic personal data, comprised of NRIC numbers, telephone numbers, and dates of birth of around 850 servicemen and employees was stolen from I-net.

 

The I-net system is an internet access system used by national servicemen and MINDEFF employees to send emails communication and for their internet surfing. The system allows their employees to use terminals within the ministry premises and SAF's (Singapore's Armed Forces) camps.

Two multinational technology companies have fallen victim to a massive fraud spear phishing attack!  A cyber criminal has been charged with breaking and entering into these two companies. The outcome of this criminal activity included a large amount of bank accounts hacked and controlled by a scammer.

Yahoo Servers were hacked by FSB Spies and others

Huge chunks of information from Yahoo's networking service and information was stolen by just four individuals. Personal messages from Yahoo user's were also stolen and have been included in the criminal activity. Out of the group of 4 hackers, two were FSB members (Russian's Federal Security Services), and the other two were previously known hackers that had no relation to the FSB.

Badlock the Crucial Security Vulnerability Bug

Badlock is the new security vulnerability bug of 2016.  Badlock was discovered by Stefan Metzmacher, who is a renowned member of the international Samba Core Developer Team and works at SerNet on Samba. He reported the bug to Microsoft and has been working closely with them (Microsoft) to fix the problem.
